Migración de datos del TICómetro a Superset: optimizando el análisis de habilidades TIC

Abstract

The TICómetro, a diagnostic assessment tool designed to evaluate UNAM students’ skills in using Information
and Communication Technologies, has generated valuable data since its implementation in 2012. It utilizes
Moodle’s database and applications. The migration of this Moodle database to Superset aimed to optimize
the analysis and visualization of this data, making it easier to generate reports and statistics for more informed
decision-making.
The project addressed challenges stemming from the various Moodle versions used over the years, which
impacted the database structure and the queries needed to extract data for Superset. Python and Google
Colaboratory Notebooks were employed for data transformation, cleaning, and loading into the new database
under the Superset schema, as well as for generating Excel reports. The migration successfully yielded annual
reports for both undergraduate and high school levels, an updated question file, and a catalog of participating
departments.
